With so many different cultures and types of people, it is no wonder that India holds some of the most interesting places in the world. If you’re visiting this massive country, here’s 5 crazy things to do while in India:

The Pushkar Fair is essentially a five-day camel fair held in Pushkar in Rashashtan, India–making this a top crazy thing to do while in India. While there are many buying and selling of livestock deals held during this very large fair (One of the world’s largest camel fairs), it has become a tourist attraction to those visiting India. Thousand of people go to Pushkar Lake where they buy and sell anything from fabric to live animals. Similarly, during the fair, there are many competitions for visitors including the longest mustache, the bridal competition, and the camel race. This Hindu event is generally celebrated around the full moon day in October or November.

In Ladakh, near the Himalayans, you will find a very strange hill that is said to be magnetic. Many have reported that if you leave your car in neutral while going up the hill, it will roll up the very steep terrain on its own. Some have reported speeds of over 12 miles per hour. This spooky phenomenon is considered a “Himalayan wonder” by travel guides and is certainly a crazy thing to do in India. Although it is said to be just an optical illusion, this crazy journey may just be worth the spontaneity of trying.

In Bandai, Rajasthan, there is a shrine where flowers and liquor bottles are offered to a motorcycle. As the story goes, Om Singh Rathore died while driving his Bullet motorcycle drunk. The police brought the bike to their station. Yet, the next day, it was found right back at the site of the accident. The police brought the bike back to the station again and chained it and emptied the gas tank. However, the same thing happened the next day. The motorcycle has since been moved permanently to the location of the accident where passer-by offer their prayers. The spirit of Om Singh Rathore is supposedly good luck to travelers–Perhaps worth a shot at visiting if you’re traveling far.

Located in Kolukkumalai, Tamil Nadu, The World’s Highest Tea Estate is located merely an hour from Munnar. At 8000 feet above sea level, this beautiful landscape and site of production for flavorful teas features breathtaking views: The plains of Tamil Nadu surrounding by rugged mountains on all sides. While this may not seem like the craziest thing to do in India, the adventure to reach the top of the plantation is a story to tell in itself (one that I’ll let you discover on your own). When you get to the plantation, try checking out the factory where tea is made and taking pictures of the lush mountains around you.

It’s no secret that India is home to many things, including some of the greatest wonders of the world–and perhaps some of the craziest. India provides many opportunities for tourists to spontaneously adventure through rugged terrain, crowds of natives, and there are even opportunities to see the country in luxury. Although India is only the 7th largest country in the world, I’d say it’s got some of the coolest and craziest things for tourists to try.
