LIFE IS SWEET AT SUGAR FACTORY AMERICAN BRASSERIE

There are many reasons to try the new Sugar Factory American Brasserie at Fashion Show—its location overlooking the Strip, with a nice view of the lights to the north and the Wynn across the street, the Chocolate Lounge upstairs, the completely ginormous menu and, of course, the huge offering of tasty cocktails.

You really must start with a drink, whether it’s one of the massive goblets that Sugar Factory has become known for or a decadent martini. Those goblets are created with a variety of alcohols from rum to vodka, fruit juices, energy drinks and even suckers and gummy worms among many other ingredients.

The martinis and cocktails are equally as decadent, with flavors such as caramel macchiato, s’mores, peanut butter cup, root beer float and Lemon-head. A German chocolate version rimmed with coconut-pecan frosting smells exactly like the cake. Exactly! All of the goblets and cocktails here can be made alcohol-free.

Some of your favorites are surely on the appetizer list, and the sampler’s the way to deal with that. Onion rings, Buffalo wings, chicken fingers and mac-and-cheese lollipops come with several dipping options. As seems to be the case with many of Sugar Factory’s offerings, the mac-and-cheese balls are big, so big.

And that’s the case with the burgers, too. The “monster burgers” come close to the size of your head, with grass-fed Angus topped with everything from pancetta and roasted peppers to brown gravy and an egg. There are relatively normal-sized burgers, too, with some cool iterations like the pizza burger (mozzarella, provolone marinara and pepperoni) and a white chocolate burger, which has garnered praise for a crazy combination. But man cannot live by burger alone (well, technically…), so go ahead and order salad, steak, sandwiches, tacos, pizza, crepes, waffles, heck, just name it.

But dessert could end up being your main dish here. Sugar Factory features four sweet pizzas, such as the Ultimate Nutella pizza, with sweet ricotta, berries and banana. For a more traditional dessert, try carrot cake, apple pie or turtle cheesecake, with an Oreo bottom and chocolate chips, marshmallow, caramel sauce and pecans layered in a delicious bite. Sundaes are over the top, too, with the King Kong sundae holding 24 scoops of ice cream and serving up to 12 people.

But the milkshakes are probably the most eye-catching, amazing thing you’ve ever ordered. You can tone it down with an old-fashioned version, but they still come gussied up with everything from rainbow sprinkles to rock candy and marshmallow fluff. But why stop there? The restaurant’s Insane Milkshakes may send you over the edge. Take for example, the Caramel Sugar Daddy Cheesecake extravaganza: A chocolate-covered glass with crushed graham crackers is topped with a slice of cheesecake, a full-size Sugar Daddy, an enormous rainbow lollipop and whipped cream, and that’s before you even get to the creamy shake below.

As you roll on out of here, fill up a bag or two in the retail shop. You’ll probably need it for the ride back to your hotel, ’cause guaranteed you’re not gonna walk.
